Did You Know?

Campaign SightFirst (CSF II) was launched at the 2005 International convention in Hong Kong. Combined with the first fundraising campaign in the early 1990s, Lions have raised more than $343 million for sustainable sight programs.
The achievement was an answer to a plea voiced long ago by Helen Keller when she declared: “I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?”
Through LCIF’s SightFirst program, the average cost to save someone’s sight is only $6.
Because of funds raised through CSF II, Lions will be able to save the sight of as many as 35 million people worldwide!
An estimated 1.4 million children around the world are blind, yet the vision of 75% could have been saved.
As of October 31, 2008, Lions Clubs International had 1,309,691 members in 45,083 clubs and 743 districts in 205 countries and geographical locations.
Lions donated an estimated $601 million to charity in 2007-08; the average club donated $13,375 to their communities in 2007-08.
